Grace Valhalla is a young, fresh female French DJ & composer. To date, she’s released four albums – “PEAK~” is her second and my favorite one. Listening to all four, you can clearly hear her sound maturing and becoming more professional, but because the albums are so different it is hard to say which is really better (they are all great!). “This one uses more sequencing and electronic gear, and is overall more aggressive (than “psychepathetic”), yet still the main quality is perfect harmony of sound and surprising the audience with new klang”, said one of her fans on Jamendo.
My favorites are definately “burn” & “ungrateful men” – I just love the crisp, yet mysterious vibe those compositions give.
The first of Grace Valhalla’s albums, “psychopathethic”, is more of a rock album, while the third, “Wire”, is a mix between the first two, and just like the previous ones contains some melancholic and calm music. Her newest album, “summerCamp”, has more of a pop feel to it. “You’ll find many analog sounds, 8bit sounds and guitars in this album. I wanted something warm, a soft music of summer, says Grace Valhalla.
I must admit that for someone that claims not to be a professional, just playing what she likes to listen to, she is doing a hell of a job. Please keep more albums coming our way!
